OUR STORY

Established on November 27, 2019 under the Society Act of 1860, Chingthur Foundation is committed to uplifting communities through sustainable development. The Chingthur Foundation was born from a legacy of compassion and advocacy inherited from parents who dedicated their lives to uplifting marginalized communities. They championed women's empowerment and created small-scale industries to provide livelihoods. Established as a Non-Governmental Development Organization (NGDO), the foundation is committed to raising awareness, empowering the powerless, and introducing modern technologies and skills to break the cycle of socio-economic bondage. Since adopting its guiding memorandum, the foundation has focused on a holistic, bottom-up approach to support the underprivileged, governed by an Advisory Board to ensure standards and accountability.

FOUNDER

Mrs. Ajin Kamei, born on November 19, 1941, was the eldest of five siblings and grew up under the guidance of her father, a village chief. Despite limited educational opportunities, she was deeply committed to social change. After marriage, she initiated a weaving unit in Dimapur, Nagaland in 1976, which later became The Rongmei Weavers' Cooperative Society Ltd. Her work in empowering marginalized women through sustainable livelihoods garnered national recognition. Mrs. Kamei's legacy continues through the Chingthur Foundation, founded by her children and friends to carry forward her mission of social upliftment and community development.Team:
